Freddie Mac: Mortgage rates sink to a near 3-year low

This week, the average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage fell to 3.75%, compared with 4.54% a year ago, according to the Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey. Freddie Mac Chief Economist Sam Khater said while low rates have yet to impact home sales, there’s a firming of purchase demand that should translate into higher home sales in the second half of this year.
